Help elders get out of their apartments and socialize with their neighbors by calling BINGO. The negative health effects of social isolation in seniors has been compared with smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. But you can help combat this! BINGO is a way to be around others without demanding conversation. It is also a great way for speakers of different languages to come together through play, and competition. It is also one of the most popular activities at our site.
Volunteer to call BINGO for low income seniors living at Glen Brook Terrace in Oakland! The volunteer will facilitate BINGO games, socialize with residents and then straighten up afterwards. BINGO is a very popular activity that is also a great opportunity to build community and keep our residents active!
There is some flexibility in when this volunteer opportunity will happen, but it must be Monday-Friday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Requirements: Ongoing SAHA Community Volunteers must commit to volunteer once a week for a minimum of 4 months, and must complete a volunteer orientation, volunteer forms and background screening prior to beginning their placement.
